Step by step

How to make a website for your business

You do not need to be technical to get a good business website. You need to know what it is for, what to say, and which way of building it suits your time and budget.

No card needed. 500 credits is enough to build a real site and change it.

Step 1: decide what the site has to do

Most small business sites have one main job: get the right people to call, book or ask for a quote. Write that job down in one sentence before anything else. Every page, word and button should serve it.

Then list what visitors need to do that: what you offer, where, roughly what it costs, why they can trust you, and how to get in touch.

Step 2: choose a name and a domain

A domain is your web address. Keep it short, easy to say out loud and close to your business name. If your exact name is taken, adding your town or trade often works. Domains are bought from registrars for a small yearly fee.

Step 3: pick how you will build it

With CreonAI you type one sentence about your business and watch it build the site. It checks every page itself before it says it is done, and you change anything by asking in a sentence. It is free to try with 500 credits and no card.

  • Do it yourself on a website builder: cheapest in money, but you design every page and write every word
  • Hire a freelancer or agency: they do the work and bring experience, at a higher price
  • Use an AI website builder: you describe your business and it writes and builds the pages, which you then check and change

Step 4: get the words right

Write like you talk to customers. Name each service plainly, say where you work, and put the most important thing first on every page. Avoid jargon and empty claims like best in town. Real details convince people: years trading, numbers of jobs, what is included.

Step 5: use real photos

Photos of your actual work, premises and team beat stock photos every time. A phone camera in good daylight is enough. On CreonAI you attach them in the chat and it puts them on the site.

Step 6: check it, then go live

  • Open it on your own phone, because that is where most visitors will be
  • Tap every button and send yourself a test enquiry
  • Check your phone number, address and opening hours twice
  • Publish it, put the link on your Google Business Profile and social media, and send it to a few customers for honest feedback

Step 7: help Google find it

Add the site to Google Search Console, which is free, and submit your sitemap so Google knows your pages exist. Keep your business details the same everywhere, and keep asking happy customers for reviews. Our guide to getting your business on Google covers it step by step.

Common questions

How long does it take to make a business website?

With an AI builder you can have a first version the same day. With a freelancer or agency, expect weeks, mostly spent writing and choosing photos.

How many pages do I need?

Often four or five: home, services, about, reviews and contact. Add a page for each main service or area once the basics are live.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Builders and AI tools do the code for you. What matters is knowing your customers and what you want to say to them.

What does it cost?

From nothing to many thousands of pounds. Our guide to website costs in the UK breaks it down.

Try it on your own business

Type one sentence about what you do. Watch it build, then publish it when you are happy.
